Nell Stark

Nell Stark grew up predominately on the east coast of the USA.  She attended a small college in New Hampshire, where she was lucky enough to fall in love with both New England and Lisa, her partner of four years.  She is now pursuing her doctorate in medieval English literature in Madison, Wisconsin.  When both she and Lisa finish their degrees, they plan to return to New England, where they hope to be professors of medieval English lit and computer science, respectively.  Nell also intends to spend most of her free moments writing lesbian-themed fiction.  When she's not translating really old stuff or writing, she's either spending time with Lisa and their two cats, reading, sleeping (though she wishes she didn't have to), cooking, exercising, or playing Dance Dance Revolution© on her X-box®.  If you'd like to discuss anything from Beowulf to lesfic, you're more than welcome to send her an email!

Coming In 2008...

Homecoming (August 2008)

Homecoming by Nell Stark

Love is thicker than blood.

When Yale student Sarah Storm comes out to her parents, they disown her and withdraw all support for her education.  A few days later, Sarah's long-term girlfriend breaks up with her and Sarah loses everything that matters—family, future dreams, and love.  Forced to leave Yale with only the contents of her dorm room and the boat of a car bequeathed to her by her grandmother, Sarah scrambles to get her life back on track at the University of Rhode Island.  Burying her hurt and disappointment, Sarah throws herself into both her classes and social life.  But no one she meets is quite as intriguing as Rory, her new—and apparently straight—roommate.   When it becomes clear that her attraction to Rory is mutual, however, Sarah begins to fear that history will repeat itself and she'll end up alone.

Will Sarah be able to put aside the betrayals of those she loved and trust again?  Or will the consequences of her own coming-out experience get in the way of a new chance at happiness?

Running With the Wind

Running with the Wind

Love, like the wind, charts its own course.

Once upon a time, Corrie Marsten fell hard and got dumped.  Now, her only loves are sailing, and power.  By day, she works as the head instructor for the University of Rhode Island's Sailing Center.  Once night falls, she indulges in frequent casual sex with her friends, all of who know that like the wind, she can't be tethered.

When Corrie meets vet student Quinn Davies, an enrollee in the summer sailing course, she senses Quinn's attraction and comes on strong.  Quinn, though drawn to the charismatic Corrie, doesn't reciprocate for important reasons of her own, leaving Corrie frustrated, tantalized, and intrigued.

As the summer progresses, Corrie and Quinn gradually develop a friendship that hints at so much more.  Will Quinn admit her growing attraction?  Will Corrie be able to forgive, forget, and love again?  When fate conspires to make them teammates in a high-stakes sailing regatta, will they run with the wind, or resist it?
